History of the Baptist Church

This history of the Baptist Church was written by Mrs Dorothy Hudson It was first published in 1994 by the Barrow Baptist Church.

The following is a history of the Barrow-upon-Soar Baptist Church, in the main taken from the minutes of the Church, only available from the year 1907, some from the Membership book which dates back to 1878, and some thoughts of my own as I grew up and attended the Church and Sunday School until the present day.

It was only when I finished my term as Church Secretary in 1985, and as I had possession of the Church Minute Book etc that I asked Pastor Don Boyes if I might keep them and put into action this history. The thoughts lay dormant until Mrs Ann Childs in 1989 asked me if I might look out some details for a history display of the Church for the village festival of that year: so it all began, and since that time I have endeavoured to draw out the interesting parts of each decade and Pastorate

It has been written that we might benefit today giving thanks for the past and giving all the glory to God for His faithfulness to the church here at Barrow upon Soar.
