Prior to being demolished in the early 1970s, 21 High Street was a butchers shop. originally Condon's Butchers, and then Hubbard's Butchers. Hubbard's relocated to 23 High Street just before the building was demolished.
When the new build premises opened at 21 High Street in 1973, Mrs Lilian Middleton moved her chemist's shop from 3 High Street. There has been a Chemist / Pharmacy here ever since.
The Middleton Chemist /Pharmacy was an independently owned business and was well known for its welcoming and friendly service and its stunning window displays.
