The photograph shows a group of soldiers in the trenches a 100 yards from the front line at Armentierres, France. Harry is wearing a woollen hat and is smoking a pipe.
The original photo was framed in a hard tack biscuit.
Daughters Rose and Jean Sole were born in 1919 and 1920 respectively. The Sole family were living on Grove Lane in 1939 (1939 England and Wales Register).

In the 1921 Census Harry Sole is shown as living in Barrow. He is Head of the household aged 31 years, married, born in Peckham and employed by John Ellis & Son Ltd as an artificial stone dresser.
In the 1939 Register Harry Sole (Alfred Sole) born 25 Feb. 1890 was living at 8 Grove Lane, Barrow upon Soar, reconstructed stone worker, with his spouse.
A Harry (Alfred) Sole born 1890 died 10th March 1970 in Melton Mowbray and was buried in Barrow Cemetery.

In Leicestershire Regimental Piece 2438 Private Harry Sole received the 1914 Star. He received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal at Litchfield 22nd April 1920.
