Edmund was baptised at St Aldate Gloucester on 2 September1799. In 1818 he entered St John's College Cambridge as a pensioner; he was readmitted as a sizer in January 1820 and was awarded a BA degree. On 9th June 1822 he was ordained deacon by Bishop of Gloucester. Feb 14th 1823 he married Elizabeth Eddowes, grand-daughter of Rev. Richard Eddowes - see 006. On 21st Dec 1823 he was ordained priest by the Bishop of Gloucester and became curate of Bretforton Worcestershire (possibly assistant at Grammar School). They had a son and a daughter. The daughter married Mr Pruen in1850 and went to South Africa. In 1825 Edmund was appointed Headmaster of Humphrey Perkins School and curate of Holy Trinity in Barrow upon Soar. The trustees reverted to the previous policy of choosing masters from St John’s College Cambridge. Thirty to forty boys were admitted and he had a house and the rent of a farm. It is suggested that the house was kept in good order and condition and this may have been partly due to the fact that it was the only day school of any importance in the village. The main subjects were the three Rs but other subjects could be added if parents requested e.g. Latin. All pupils had to be able to read before admission. Ref (a) ( Ref.b) He died on 23rd August 1833. The burial service was conducted by Rev. Gwatkin.
